Fabric advancements add to comfort and durability
New technologies are continuing to change the face of apparel at a rapid pace.
The addition of "moisture wicking" fabrics (which pull excess moisture away from the skin) and technical finishes has created an extremely broad range of apparel choices for consumers, particularly in summer. The new products aren't just designed for the weekend warriors either. Many are tailored specifically for the corporate world. These new fabrics have a range of benefits that:
- keep you cooler than cotton material;
- are antibacterial, odor resistant and highly breathable;
- pull excess moisture away from the body;
- provide UV protection; and/or
- are easy to care for.
An example of this new apparel technology is the Nike Dri-Fit UV. This moisture-wicking shirt, which is 92% polyester and 8% Spandex, is lightweight and breathable while providing SPF30 UV Protection.
